Quite apart from all else Ron championed in the name of truly popular literature, we come upon his modest proposal to the Kellogg Company. Then synonymous with corn flakes, the Kellogg’s box had, indeed, stood on every typical American breakfast table while heroic ballads, still penned in Tin Pan Alley, continued to capture the popular imagination. As for his suggestion regarding American presidents and a “classical series,” it just so happens that munching Americans would eventually find something very similar on their cereal boxes.
